To commemorate this special day we held a movie screening of Samaria and a dialogue session with 30 adolescents and young people. We are cognizant of the fact that in order to address the challenges that many young girls face we need concerted efforts from all key players including boys and young men. Samaria is a short movie that focuses on the challenges that girls continue to face and how society and how society helps derail their dreams and aspirations. In breaking down the movie we went on to discuss the many challenges young girls face in our communities and how we can drive change.

It was concluded that the following where the major areas of intervention:

  1. Early marriages and Teenage Pregnancies
  2. Violence against children and young women
  3. Exclusion  and discrimination on social services
  4. Self Esteem and Financial Exclusion

In driving positive and sustainable change we will focus on:

  1. Promote equal access to education and social economic services
  2. Increased community outreach and school engagements and awareness
  3. Continuous peer to peer dialogue sessions at a safe space 4. Promoting of girls rights through enhancing their knowledge and building their self-confidence
